In an effort to become increasingly environmentally conscious and practice sustainability, Washington State University has taken strides to open a new environmental technology building, which will officially open this fall.

Jeff Lannigan, the Project Manager of WSU’s Capital Planning Office, has overseen the planning of the PACCAR Environmental Technology Building (PECTB), formerly known the Clean Technology Building.

Lannigan said the late Elson S. Floyd wanted the College of Engineering to eventually move to the east side of campus.“Clean Tech came of that discussion and that master plan. So, after renovating existing facilities on this side of campus, over time we’re going to move out of them. It may take a generation or two, but we’ll rebuild on the east side of campus. That’s why clean tech is out on the other side of campus,” Lannigan said.

Donald Bender, professor and director at Composite Materials & Engineering Center, said that it has been nearly two years since Floyd solicited the PACCAR donation. [Read more…]
